Bridal Make Up Tips

You’ve decided on your dress, shoes and hair but now it’s time to think about your makeup. It’s one the hardest  looks to create, since it has to be perfect. After all, it’s your big day. Think about what you want to create with your wedding day look, do you want it to be natural or bold and bright? Your makeup makes such an impact on your confidence on the day, it has to be right. Your makeup needs to last all day, through the crying, hugging, kissing, eating and dancing. Your mascara will need to be waterproof, lips kiss proof and your skin bomb proof. The key of wedding day makeup is that you enhance your best features.

We’ve got all the inspiration and tips you need!

Foundation
Choosing the right tone of foundation is difficult because of the huge choice.  Invest in a good foundation, getting the right formulation is essential. However the one foundation that’s not recommend for your wedding day, although it looks beautiful in person, mineral based makeup is not ideal for photographs, It looks as if your skin is on an oily film.

Eyes

Keep eyeshadow tones muted and matt so that they emphasise, not compete with your natural eye colour. You can’t go wrong with colours that have a brown base, earthy tones (shell pink, bronze) and food tones (cream, caramel and coffee) you can add shimmer to your makeup, however use a brush and be prudent, adding natural glow you already have. When to much shimmer is used, it can make your face look sweaty or oily, flash photography always magnifies shiny makeup.

Brows
Don’t neglect your eye brows, but don’t do them yourself. Your brows frame your face so let a professional take care of your brows, it’s a good idea to get them done days before so there’s no redness.

Lashes
False lashes look amazing, when applied correctly and carefully. Choosing human lashes over synesthetic is essential, human hair lashes blend easily with the natural lash line and take mascara application much better. Choosing the correct shape for your false lashes is essential. If unsure choose a medium length set of lashes with a round shape. Lashes that have the most length in the middle of the eyelash strip create a universally flattering shape. Ardell lashes are a recommended and affordable synthetic brand.

Waterproof Mascara
There is a high probability that you will cry on your wedding day, many women make the mistake on assuming that they won’t cry on their wedding day, but don’t take the risk. So remembering to apply waterproof mascara is very important! If wearing false lashes don’t forget waterproof glue too.

Lips

Finding the right shade for your lips that coordinates with your makeup, dress and wedding theme is difficult. You need to shop around and try plenty of colours. The colour of your lipstick obviously needs to coordinate with the rest of your makeup theme, but the colours that look great are a deep red or a deep berry plum these colours are a great contrast with white wedding dresses. Another great colour is a nude lipstick topped with a baby pink gloss. This gives a fresh and striking look without being over powering for people who don’t like bold lipstick colours.  However keep the gloss to a minimum else your lips can look unnaturally wet and glare shiny in your photographs. Don’t forget hubby won’t be very pleased with him having to wear gloss. Remember to apply a thin water based primer to hydrate and maximise the finished look.

Have a little bag of useful bits close by
It is important that you have a few of your essentials in a little bag that you can get to. On your wedding day you want to look and feel amazing and if there is a slight imperfection that is frustrating you, like your lipstick has come off slightly- this will make you feel negative. You want to feel amazing and know that your lippie is close by just encase.

White t-shirt
When you are having make up tests wear a white t-shirt, this is so you can see what your makeup looks up against a pale colour.

Don’t follow the trend
For your wedding day, it’s not recommended that you follow an obscure makeup fashion trend, remember the photographs taken you will have to live with for the rest of your married life.
Most importantly enjoy the process of finding the perfect makeup for you. Its so much fun and all makeup artists are so happy to help you and ensure you find the exact make up look you are looking for and enjoy the whole experience. However if you are thinking about doing your makeup yourself, it’s a good idea to scheduale a makeup lesson with a licenced professional to teach you everything you need to know. This will give you confidence and knowledge that will last past your wedding day.

Why are Hen & Stag Parties Leaving it to the Last Minute to Book?

Why are so many hen and stag parties booking late!  Normally groups book many months before their hen or stag party but we have noticed that this year most groups have decided to hold off and book closer to date.  This means risking the availability of hotels and activities, so why do it?

Are people short of money? Are people uncertain whether they can attend the hen / stag weekend? Or is it something else?

Let us know your thoughts?  Leave some comments below.

Raining again in Manchester

Its always raining in Manchester!  How do we know! As we are based there and its always raining.

With no summer sunshine we are experiencing a full year of Manchester raining season.  Lets just hope for a cold winter so it snow's instead of raining.

In November the Manchester Christmas markets open which are prefect for after work socials and office parties (even better if it snow's instead of raining).

Lets wait and see what happens next?

Organising a Hen Party - Tips, Advice & Ideas

Organising a hen party, hen night and hen weekend is an important responsibility. The hen party will be talked about before the wedding, during and for years after, so the pressure is on to provide a quality hen party. However, there are some tips to help the hen party run more smoothly.

Tip 1
You need to decide how many ladies will be attending the hen bash. This is important because this influences what activities, accommodation and destination you’ll be able to do. A good number for a hen party is around the 10 – 12 mark, as this makes it easier to book accommodation and most hen do activities work around these numbers. There is no point deciding to do a spa weekend for 25 ladies, as they’ll most likely be a lot of waiting around for treatments.

Tip 2
Next to decide is the date of the hen party, once decided stick to it. Ensure that you stay away from bank holiday weekends if possible, as most hotels and activities will either be filling up fast or charge double prices. If you’re going to a city with a racecourse, stay clear from race weekend, as accommodation will be limited. However stag and hen party organisers normally have accommodation pre booked so they will be able to find some that suits your hen party needs.

Tip 3
Now that you have a rough idea on numbers and decided on a date for the weekend, next is the budget. Speak to everyone to get a rough idea of their budget and then go for the average price. However, if the hen party is booked far enough in advance, this gives time for everyone to save up the money monthly. Just remember that everyone’s financial position is different and your job is to ensure that everyone has a good time. A really good idea to help take the pressure off yourself is to appoint a treasurer whose job is to collect the money from everyone ASAP. Set monthly or quarterly amounts and stick to it, as soon you’ll be paying for activities and accommodation.

Which Hen Party Activities to choose?

A Day at the Races
Head to the track for some serious horse racing betting and drinking or soak up the atmosphere in your Sunday best with a glass of champagne... the choice is yours! One of the best days you'll ever have.
This is a brilliant activity for a hen party, as the races are throughout the day leaving the night for the serious fun. There are plenty of bars and smartly dressed men around to keep yourself entertained if betting is not for you. Perfect for the larger hen parties.

Cocktail Making Party
Love cocktails? Then learn how to make them like the professionals. The hen party will love this hen activity, as its not weather dependant, suits all ages and everyone learns something. Look for the cocktail making parties that included food and drink.

Can-Can Party
Get yourself in the mood for a party with some good old fashioned high kicking Moulin Rouge style fun. The fabulously colourful can-can skirts that are provided as part of the package will really put you in the mood for fun and giggles.
You will learn a variety of basic can-can moves, tricks and routines that will come together in a full chorus line performance at the end of the party.
The can-can party is energetic, fun packed and suitable for all ages, a great dance hen party

Bar & Club Queue Jumper Tickets

This is the perfect way to ensure that everyone sticks together on the stag night. Bar crawl tickets help to ensure that the whole party get in the venue by giving them advance notice of your arrival. These are relevantly cheap and add that extra little bit of fun for the weekend.

Why is Leeds the place for a Party

Leeds has been a city of shopping and culture for years but has recently seen an increase in the number of people going to party.

One of the many reasons why Leeds has become popular with groups of people wanting to party into the night is it that it offers super value for money. The hotels in Leeds are all central, decent quality and offer groups twin room’s with breakfasts at fair prices. However hen parties in Leeds have struggled to find enough rooms with flexible deals to meet their group’s size and needs. Funktion Events has built up a large portfolio of hotels for Leeds hen parties and offers extremely flexible booking conditions. Book a Leeds hen party with just a group deposit and you only have to give the final group size weeks prior to the booking.

As well as great value, Leeds can offer many party activities varying from cocktail making parties and life drawing parties to extreme quad biking and off road buggies. Either way a party is sure to find the activities to suit taste, budget and group size.

Below are some useful sites to help plan a Leeds Party;
